It’s about freakin’ time!

It looks like Sony are set to release wireless microphones that will work with both PS2 and PS3 consoles and their respective versions of SingStar.

The official SingStar MySpace page was carrying a contest to win the peripherals, with 100 gamers getting the “chance to test them out before anyone else!” – That’s one way of running a beta. The contest is now closed.

The page states: “Out next year, the official SingStar wireless microphones will work on both PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 and allow you to really bust out your moves without busting your console.”

What can we say? Microsoft showed them the way last month with the superb Lips wireless mics (shame about the game) and if Sony’s new toys live up to that standard, then we’ll be happy. As for them working on the PS2 as well….that’s just a bonus.
