As if they had to, Nintendo have been on a bit of a pre-Christmas PR tour in the states with Cammie Dunaway and Reggie Fils-Aime doing the interviewing rounds.

In her interview with MTV Multiplayer, Dunaway promised that 2009 will be the year that the Wii makes the hardest of hardcore gamers “stand up and pay attention.”

She said:”If you look at something like The Conduit, that’s really pushing the edge of graphic capabilities on the Wii and doing things that people didn’t think were possible. And I think, one, that makes other developers stand up and take notice. And two, that makes consumers say, ‘Huh. Maybe there’s something to this.’ Or if you look at Mad World - just the sheer creativity of that graphic style and the impact of the black and the white and the red.”

Continuing, Dunaway mentioned that 2009 will be the year that the Wii “turns the tide” and pulls in the hardcore crowd - making comment on Punch-Out and the new revamp of Sin & Punishment.

The interview is a good read, so head on over to MTV Multiplayer to check it out.
