Well, it isn’t like anything ever gets fixed OUTSIDE of court in the States, is it?
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against - deep breath - Electronic Arts (distributor), Harmonix (developer), MTV (publisher), Viacom (who own MTV) and pretty much all of the staff of those companies. The suit - filed by Monte Morgan of Kansas - alleges that the named defendants conspired to sell defective drum kits after they admitted that the original Rock Band bass pedals were defective.
The “special” warranty extension granted by EA to cover the problem lasted until October 1st, and this is also further proof that the company knew that they were providing faulty product - as the date was just a smidgen before Rock Band 2 was released Stateside, claims Morgan. The extension was allegedly a strategy devised to get Rock Band drum owners to purchase the new Rock Band 2 instrument bundle.
Furthermore (I love that word), the suit also covers the current 60-day warranty, claiming that it isn’t enough.
Of course, we just took them back to retailers, modded our drum pedals with cheap strengthening kits that improved the feel of them anyway or bought the ION Drum Rocker when it came out. But, what we should of done, is gone to court over a set of $50 drums. There again, I can afford that, but I can’t afford a lawyer. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong?
